The BBC’s new landmark wildlife series, Kingdom, is about to take viewers on an extraordinary journey through Zambia’s animal societies — 5 different species, 5 different families. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, Kingdom showcases one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems —Zambia’s Luangwa Valley.
Our sister company, Reel Nature, was proud to have supported the production of Kingdom as the in-country fixers for the Zambia shoot. Working closely with the BBC Natural History Unit team, Reel Nature provided logistical and field expertise throughout filming — helping bring the magic of South Luangwa to the screen.

And while the filming took place in the Luangwa Valley, the connection runs even deeper for us at Classic Zambia. Two of our current guides, Ason and Newton, were key members of the on-the-ground team during production, as some of the countries top safari guides they worked as specialist vehicle operators and GSS (gimble) drivers to help capture some of the incredible wildlife sequences that will appear in the series.

Today, both are part of our guiding team at Musekese and Ntemwa-Busanga Camps in the Kafue, sharing that same fieldcraft, patience, and deep understanding of animal behaviour with our guests. It’s a wonderful reflection of how experience gained in the filmmaking world feeds directly back into the guided safari experience — and vice versa.
A Shared Pride in Zambia’s Wild Places
For all of us at Classic Zambia, Kingdom is a reminder of what makes Zambia so special — vast, unspoiled, and still deeply wild. Whether in the Luangwa, Zambezi or the Kafue, it remains one of Africa’s last great wildernesses and an endless source of inspiration for those who work to protect and interpret it.
And with the timing of Kingdom’s release, we’re especially excited to be opening our very first new camp in this same remarkable valley — Kutandala Camp in North Luangwa. This new addition brings Classic Zambia’s philosophy of immersive, owner-run, low-impact safaris to another of the country’s most storied wilderness areas. You can watch our Kutandala Camp video just below to get a glimpse of what’s to come.

We’re immensely proud to see Zambia represented in such an extraordinary series, and even prouder to have played a small part in bringing these stories to life — both on screen and on the ground. Be sure to tune in to BBC One or BBC iPlayer on Sunday November 9th 2025.
